Tanzania's inflation
jumped in July due to rising prices of both food
and non-food items. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said inflation rose
6.4 percent year-on-year in July, from 6.1 percent a month
earlier, while the month-on-month inflation rate rose to 0.4
percent from 0.2 percent. According to NBS some of the non- food items that contributed to such increase
included gents wear by 8.6 per
cent; ladies wear by 6.5 per cent;
restaurant food prices by 5.8 per cent, and accommodation services by
3.7 per cent.
"The overall index went up to 158.78 in July, 2015 from 159.16
recorded in July 2014,"food and non-alcoholic
beverages inflation rate from the month of July 2015 has also further
increased to 10.6 percent from 10.1 recorded in June, 2015.
